The Thing from Fantastic 4 Cartoon/comic fighting in the Antarctic against a strange alien beast only known as "the thing" |
do on the monster, but I'm still pretty unhappy with the light sources... I may go back and work on this one more after hearing all your comments. I also changed ideas after coming to this completion, So I'll post my second concept tomorrow after a little more work.
I love it! The concept the colors in the Carpenter Thing and...yes. coming from me, the looseness. Fantastic 4 Thing could have been paid a little more attention to, but the Carpenter on looks like fun, so I'm sure that was the case. Great movement in the carpenter one also. Largely too the looseness and swoopy lines. Can't wait for Part 2.

ReplyDeleteLove it Mark. I think the monster thing really gave you an excuse to loosen up (which I know you don't like doing) and the result is one of the most dynamic creatures I have seen from you to date! I feel like hero thing shows a lot more rigidness. Go crazy with him too if you do another one! Also great colors!
ReplyDeletethanks arman, agreed on all points... i have a second illustration near completion right now... but its a completely different concept.. If i come back to this concept, it will probably be me tweaking a few things... specifically the looseness of hero thing. I might pop him out of the image and completely redraw him... i think his pose is even a little boring...
ReplyDeleteLike I told you here, i like that you kept it looser, more sketchy. I think you could be looser with the color too, and really push the contrast on F4 Thing to help define the rocky texture of his body. Like in the comic reference you have where some of his rocks are black in color. Plus since he's in the foreground he probably should have more contrast than the Thing in the background. The background details are awesome, subtle but you know they are like in a warehouse or something
ReplyDeleteFrank, agreed. black on the thing for increased value would really pop it! when you said F4 thing... i had a moment of retardation... for a second i thought you meant there was some kind of photoshop "action" that is programmed to f4 that you wanted me to use. lol *smacks forehead*
ReplyDeleteNice job Marky Mark. Sketchy feel is nice, but your detailing rocks my socks homey. I'd like to see you mid-point between these 2 extremes. Looking forward to your second piece.
