I updated and "popped" it up a bit to add a little more depth as per some comments. I didn't change much, just some color and shading tweaks...
My mashup is pretty self explanatory:
The Snorks, which everyone should remember, and the xenomorphs from Aliens, which nobody could possibly forget.
I realize the cuteness is all but gone, and I wound up with H.R. Giger-Snorks which are arguably more terrifying than the original aliens. That said I think they're pretty accurate representation of what would happen if a Snork got incubated by a facehugger.
Why didn't you use more colors?
ReplyDeleteKidding, looks awesome as per the yoosh.
ReplyDeleteAwesome Arman!! I like how it you can take a style that is quick for you and make it look finished. Brava!
ReplyDeleteAWESOME!! Nice post Arman! Good movement, and the combo works well. I love that there's multiple Snorks in various poses.
ReplyDelete*Bravo!
ReplyDeleteThats great dude! Like the monochromatic look with small color pops too. Exactly the kind of stuff I was hoping to see with this challenge.
ReplyDeleteVery Nice... I find it impressive that you have the patience to draw your critters 3 times... and that they all look consistent. I always tend to draw one creature and then find it difficult to repeat the same creature in different poses.
ReplyDeletegoing back to the previous discussion about providing "Critiques" for eachother... im trying really hard to find something to say other than patting you on the back... daaammmnnNNIIITTTT! i cant find a thing....
ReplyDeleteThanks everybody! I'm liking the composition of this one more then the last. I'm definitely going to choose composition over detail more often. Mark, I hid a few more then 3 critters in there, but the main 3 were definitely a challenge. I'm really liking "detaching myself" from my work after I have a strong thumbnail and just cranking it out. The results seem to be better then taking more time actually.
ReplyDeleteNice work Arman! I'm a big fan of your line work. It's reading a little flat to me though. I would like to see a little more tonal range on the creatures. Perhaps even adding some sunlight filtering through the water, catching some of the alien snorks in the foreground.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Joeyjojo. I think the character up top should probably have more lighting/detail only because he is so close to us in the picture. I think playing with lighting/tonal range would really push it more. Otherwise though, I think its pretty awesome and the Snorks will now give me nightmares
ReplyDeleteAfter not looking at it for a couple days I think you are right Frank and Joeyjojo. I will add some pop to the foreground snork and repost.....
ReplyDeletei don't think i ever care to scuba dive again...
ReplyDeleteI updated the image ever so slightly.....
ReplyDeleteI can tell. it looks better! ATMOSPHERIC PERSPECTIVE! there i threw in my fancy art term for the week.
